The AIMS Games Sprint Event is an individual competition, with staggered start times, where you must visit all the controls in a prescribed order in the fastest time. Sprints are normally held in urban environments on a campus, school grounds etc. with route choices being created by buildings and urban obstacles. Navigationally easier than forest orienteering events, fast decisions are the key. Competitors start at one minute intervals, and competitors receive their map at the map issue point at the same time the clock starts. They follow a marked route to the start triangle on their map (a non-punching control), they then start navigating to control #1 then #2 etc. The clock stops when they punch the finish control.
