Start times from 10am to 12 midday.

White Very easy
Yellow Easy
Orange Moderate
Red 1,2,3 Technical courses for more experienced orienteers
Purple Technical but less physically challenging course aimed at older orienteers
Orienteering in Riverhead Forest
- an area of pine forest and some native bush. Complex, detailed spur/gully terrain.
- Some new tracks have been created especially for this event.
- The red courses offer challenging, technical orienteering.
- White/Yellow and Orange courses make greater use of tracks etc.
- Always check the website shortly before the event in the unlikely event of a cancellation.
Event Details
- Orienteering - on Foot - you choose your pace. Usually as individuals but groups can go together.
- All welcome (you don't need to be a member to get started)
- Select from a range of 7 courses of varying length and difficulty. Suitable for all ages, levels, and beginners. Some children need to be accompanied by adult.
- You may start any time between 10am to 12:00 pm (noon). If you would like do do more than one course - please ensure you restart before 12:00pm
- Courses close: 2:00pm unless otherwise stated. Please plan and ensure you return to the finish by course closure time.
Notices
- Read event information on display at registration
- Help and getting started advice available at registration. Please ask.
- Bring your own food/water.
- Orienteering is Smoke Free. Absolutely NO smoking at event or anywhere in forest (including inside car or middle of road).
- Compass recommended (limited free hire available).
- Carrying a whistle recommended. (Whistles available for purchase $3) The recognised distress signal is 6 blasts on whistle. Do not play with whistle as anyone hearing it will abandon their course to try and find you or report to registration.
- SPORTident timing in use. (Hire available $3ea )
- Important: All participants must punch the finish and download SPORTident card even if they decide not to finish the course.
Directions
- The Riverhead (Robinson Road) event will be signposted from Coatesville.
- Forest security gate opens by 9:00am.
- Please drive with "lights on" in forest and stay on signed route. Absolutely NO detour from the signed route permitted. Watch for other forest users ( e.g. dog walkers/ mountainbikers)
Fees
- Since COVID-19 we are using PRE-ENTRY via EnterO (see home page for link in the week before the event)
- Members Adult $15/ Junior $10 / Family $40
- Non members Adult $20 / Junior $15 / Family $55
- Standard entry fees close Wednesday Midnight/ Late fee applies from Thursday (extra $5 pp)
- SPORTident hire $3 each.
