Afterwork short urban orienteering event. Using areas such as schools, beginners can discover orienteering in a familiar environment close to home. At the same time experienced orienteers compete in a recognised sport format where quick thinking and seconds count. Is part of the 6-event “CollegeSport Wellington Sprint Orienteering Series” but also open to all ages. This event uses Maidstone Intermediate and Fraser Crescent Schools

There will be three courses as follows. Distances can be misleading as you need to weave around buildings etc, so expect to take longer than you would think. They are designed to take 15-30 minutes.

Course 1 is for Senior Boys (Y12-13) and experienced fit orienteers. It will involve twisting and turning through the most complex parts of the school campus, and some parts will have choices within choices.

Course 2 is for Senior Girls (Y12-13) and Intermediate Boys and Girls (Y10-11). It is similar to Course 1 but shorter.  Experienced orienteers who are less fit or older should choose this.

Course 3 is for Junior (Y10), Year 7/8, Primary students, and anyone new to orienteering. It will take you on a nice tour of the campus and sports fields with some left/right choices round buildings. And it is shorter still.

Pre-entry is preferred and gives a discount. If you are a student please choose the CSW Grade as above so that we can allocate series points to you. If you are not, then choose the course that suits you.  Timing is by Sport Ident, if you don’t have an SI chip then hire one via your entry.  If you are new to orienteering please identify yourself at the check-in desk and we’ll assign you a helper.

Event centre is located at Clyma Park - access only via the alleyway next to 50 Fraser Crescent. Do not access through the school. Please park considerately in Fraser Crescent and surrounding streets.
