This event offers route choice and nice riding among the new tracks in Belmont Regional Park, and the famous bunkers. We'll walk you up to the Old Coach Road so that climb is minimised, and then you'll be in amongst it, finishing downhill.
Compared to WellyMTBO series events, there will be:
No Course 1, we expect hard men and women to be doing the Ak Attack next day so will want a shorter "warm-up"
Course 2 as usually served up for Vet men and Open women, most will take at least an hour. Even though starting high there will be some climb. In fact 450m over 15km. By comparison, that's similar to climbing Belmont Trig from sea level.
Course 3 will try to offer challenging route choice without so much climbing. Older riders doing the Ak Attack might choose this one. 250m climb over 12km. That's twice up the hill from the railway station to my house so not too bad.
Course 4 will offer simple nav and easy riding - basically back down to the woolshed. Could be 100m climb over its 8km. I used to do this climb every day in work clothes.
You can do it individually or in pairs or teams. There are no categories or prizes. There is honour, glory, and if its like today, a fantastic day with views over the Hutt, Wgtn and Porirua!
