Courses to suit experienced, intermediate and new orienteers on an intricate mixture of forest and open farmland dunes.

Terrain: 50% pine forest on intricate sand dune topography, with variable undergrowth; 50% rough farmland on intricate sand dune topography, some steep.

All maps will be at 1:7500 scale, 2.5 m contour interval. A3.

Red Long 7.01 km, 20 controls.

Red Medium 4.89 km, 17 controls.

Orange 3.66 km, 14 controls.

Intermediate technical level. Ability to read map contours, to plan and execute routes and to relocate to major features such as roads required. Covers some moderately rough terrain, estimated winning time for intermediate runners/walkers 45-50 minutes.

Yellow 3.11 km, 14 controls.

Elementary level course for orienteers who have mastered white level techniques and are beginning to interpret contour features on the map and ground. The course is based close to linear features, which can be used as “handrails”, with some “corner-cutting” options available. Most controls are on obvious features that are slightly off the handrails, but clearly visible on approach. Median time approximately 30 minutes.

White 2.65 km, 15 controls.

Introductory course for beginners and young orienteers. Ability to recognise linear features such as roads, tracks and fences on the map, and follow them on the ground is required. Controls are situated at almost all decision points and are clearly visible on approach. Median time approximately 30 minutes.

There is an approximately 1.5 km walk from parking to the start, and 1.0 km walk back from the finish. Please make sure you build this into your timetable.

Starts from 1100 to 1330. Course closure 1530 after which controls will be progressively collected.
