MapRun6
Download the MapRun6 app (or MapRunG if you want to use a Garmin watch to track your run). This event benefits from the latest MapRun6 version, so please check you are using the most recent version of the app.
Controls are bright orange or yellow tapes. Being bright, they may be prone to migration. If you are in the right place (e.g. the app beeps) but do not find the tape, keep in going!

Event terrain
Cemetery - tricky, close navigation required to pick your way between the gravestones, bush and paths.
Courses/Classes:
Course | Classes | Length, Climb and Number of Controls | Difficulty |
Long | 2.7 km | 22 controls (taps) | Technically demanding |
Short | 1.5 km | 13 controls (tapes) | Easier |
Parking and directions
Park considerately on Seaforth Terrace or Rosehaugh Avenue
Safety
Safety bearing:
Heading south will bring you to the edge of the cemetery.
Specific Hazards and Notes:
Be aware of other people, especially if doing this as a sprint.
Note level changes, kerbs, changes of underfoot conditions and some uneven ground.
Courses use the public roads inside the cemetery. Although traffic should be quiet and slow, please consider accompanying less road-confident young orienteers.
We anticipate you doing this as a daytime/evening event. We have not sought specific permission for this to be done at nighttime.
Although this is a short sprint event, ensure somebody knows where you are going, and when you expect to return.
COVID-19
- Please ensure you maintain physical distancing from others not in your group.
- Please ensure you scan the QR code at the event centre.
- Please do not come to the event if you have any cold or flu symptoms, or if you or anyone from your household is awaiting covid test results.
- Once you have finished your course, please return to your car rather than hanging around the event centre.
- We request that people wear face coverings while in the event centre.

Why use MapRun6
As case numbers increase, we are identifying the best strategy to keep orienteering activities running without adding to community risk. Our events before Easter 2022 will all be available on MapRun6 (app available for Android and iPhone), allowing them to be available over a prolonged time period, thereby reducing contacts.
