Mini adventure race, consisting of riverbank mountain biking, navigation, and orienteering on parkland and bush. Ultra short (done by lunchtime) suitable teamwork practice, nav training (yellow level). Bike approx. 10km, foot 4X approx 1km. Event as a whole is for teams of 2-4, experienced individuals welcome too. Experimental event, see website below for OHV's training philosophy, and you can see the maps there for Chapter One.
Print your own maps from the links to be given here by the end of Tuesday prior. We suggest you use the "best" setting on your printer. Timing at selected controls by Sport Ident, one chip per team ($3 to hire). Laid back organisation. No entry fee.
About the biking. It's largely on the river trails but there is a section of single track and a river crossing to negotiate. You'll be able to do it on a road bike but might have to push for some of the way. A MTB is best. Security - we recommend locking pairs of bikes together at the transitions while you do the foot. You can do the biking without the foot sections if you wish - or do 3 of the 4 foot sections without the biking. The 4th section isn't accessible by road.
