Mini adventure race, consisting of riverbank mountain biking, navigation, urban jungle orienteering. Ultra short (done by lunchtime) suitable teamwork practice, nav training (yellow level). Bike approx. 10km, foot 4X approx 1km. Event as a whole is for teams of 2-4, foot stages may be done separately by individuals, families etc. Experimental event, see website above for OHV's training philosophy. Print your own maps from links to be given here by the Friday prior** Timing at selected controls by Sport Ident, one chip per team. Laid back organisation. No entry fee.
** There are 5 X A4's, two for the foot and three for the biking. We suggest using the "best" setting on your printer. In adventure racing its common to have one navigator per team, but we suggest printing maps for all of you. Better training. You can look at the maps in advance (as in AR), or not (as in orienteering). Don't go out on the course until Sunday though.
About the biking. It's largely on the river trails but we have controls in the willows, and cross the grass which is soft at this time of year. You'll be able to do it on a road bike but will have to push for short distances. A MTB is best. Security - we may have a "babysitter" at the transitions to watch the bikes but don't guarantee it - suggest locking pairs of bikes together while you do the foot.
