You know how cricketers spend time at the nets, they practise with the bat, and they practice, and they practice, and they practice... How often did you do compass practice in the last month? In the last year???
This newly mapped area contains some native plantings which are slightly thicker than ideal but will let us set up compass legs across flat featureless terrain. The surrounding area is destined for an industrial park but its largely empty for the moment and we can do a quite nice little course including the nearby riverbank. Did I say flat? Not a hill on the place except for the odd man-made ones. Suitable for easy courses as well. A nice anti-dote from last week's U-Max:-))
See the website above for the U-Max style of DIY event. Due to website changes afoot we won't publish the map online but you can ask Michael (address below) to print one for you. Suggest koha of $1 for his ink. Bring compass of course and recycle a plastic bag.
The Silverstream Heritage Railway is right next to the map, and its open this Sunday 11am-4pm. If you're not puffing too much.
