Camp Information

Dates: Mon 14 Dec (arrival from 3pm) – Fri 18 Dec (10am departure)
Venue: Teapot Valley Christian Camp, Brightwater, Tasman.

Key dates for leading up to the Junior Camp:

• Fri 4 Sep (evening) – Registrations will open. The link to registrations will be found on the ONZ Website.
• Wed 30 Sep – Registrations will close.
• Thu 1 Oct – Clubs will be emailed to confirm applicants are members and meet the minimum standards.
• Mid-Oct – places will be officially offered to participants
• Early/Mid Nov – Invoices will be sent out
• Mon 7 Dec – Payment for Camp is due

Camp Manager Position

Below is the position description for the Camp Manager Position which closes on Fri 16 September:

Description:

• The Camp Manager has the overall responsibility for the smooth running of the camp outside coaching activities. This includes (and can be delegated);
  • timeline coordination,
  • budget management,
  • child welfare and discipline, and risk management,
  • first aid, and medical
  • airport pick-up and drop-off logistics 
  • adult helper management
  • sleeping allocations
• Organising the supervision and pastoral care outside of coaching time (to give the coaching team a break)
• Work with the Lead Coach(es) and Host Club to produce an event Safety Plan (using ONZ H&S documentation on website).
• Overall camp report (including accidents & Incidents) completed.

Lead Coach Position

Below is the position description for the Lead Coach(es) which closes on Fri 16 September:

Description:

• This role is to design, and lead the delivery of, the training schedule for the week, plan the courses, evening presentations and other social activities. This is done in conjunction with the Camp Manager and the help of the Supporting Club Liaison.
• Organise all the field activities and logistics with the assistance of the appointed coach training officer, Supporting Club Liaison.
• In conjunction with the ONZ Performance Leader, recruit the coaching team drawn primarily from High Performance (formerly U23) Camp. participants attending their camp. Up to 12 coaches in total (including Lead Coach) are required.
• Run Coach the Coaches sessions the day prior to the camp to ensure that all volunteer coaches can confidently and safely coach at the junior camp.
• The Lead Coach must have coached at a high level and have experience at designing a programme of exercises for the ability range at camp.
• Experience with managing large groups is useful.

For the Lead Coach in particular, the following will apply

• While it is ideal that this person resides in or near the region hosting the Camp, this is not essential.
• Draft training exercises to be completed by the end of October if possible
