Considerably reduced Junior Camp Lead Coach Role still needs filling
By Christo Peters - Tue 18 Oct 2022 11:26pm

We are still looking to fill the position of Lead Coach for the Junior Camp. However, we have significantly reduced the scope of this role.  Thankfully, JWOC and former Junior Camp Lead Coach Briana Stevens has offered to help set the training activities, a key task for the Lead Coach. We are also close to engaging someone to run the Coaching Prep Day and, at the same time, ONZ Events Liaison Officer and GM have been busy trying to recruit camp coaches. So we are now looking for a Lead Coach who has a dramatically smaller focus than previous camps. Key tasks are:

  •  Lead all junior camp coaches as well as design the evening presentations and other social activities. This is done in liaison with the Camp Manager and Supporting club liaison.
  •  Lead all the field activities and logistics as per the supplied planning with Supporting Club Liaison.
  •  The Lead Coach must have coached at a high level and have experience at leading a programme of exercises for the ability range at camp.
  •  Experience with managing large groups is useful.

If you are interested in being the Lead Coach we would love to hear from you – please contact Christo Peters at gm@orienteering.org.nz
