Te Tau Ihu NavSport Festival 2023
Te Tau Ihu NavSport Festival 2023 – Nelson / Marlborough 8-15 July 2023 Nelson OC, Marlborough OC and the NZ Rogaining Association are hosting three navigation based events for School Aged Students in the July 2023 school holidays to coincide with Matariki Weekend. Seven navigation based events for your kids in eight days. The week kicks-off with the South Island Schools Orienteering Champs in Nelson on Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 July featuring a Sprint, a 3-person Urban Relay and a Long Distance event. Monday’s a rest day so travel the short distance to Blenheim either via a day at Rainbow Skifield or a trip to the Sounds. Get your teams of two or more together and enter the the New Zealand Secondary Schools Rogaine Champs to be held within 30 minutes drive of Blenheim on Tuesday 11 July. The festival ends with the New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Champs to be hosted all within 20 minutes drive of Blenheim from Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 July. Please note that the format for these Champs are different from previous years in that the Long Distance will be held as the first event on the Thursday with starts from 10am. There will be strictly no allowance for late start time requests due to travel arrangements so we recommend arriving for the preceding events or to travel on Wednesday (given possible weather disruptions and limited flights). The reason for the switch is that we in discussions with Marlborough Council to hold the Sprint Distance on urban streets on Matariki Day. Bulletin One will be released at the start of Term 1 2023. Entries will open before the end of Term One.
