At World Masters Games 2017 HQ, we are in celebration mode. That’s because the sporting festival of a lifetime is now just two years away.

It’s so close you can taste it. Or maybe that’s our world class kiwi cuisine you’re imagining, or the region’s award winning wines, or maybe just the sweet taste of medal-winning victory.

Our International Goodwill Ambassador Lord Sebastian Coe has offered some kind words of wisdom as we embark on the next stage of the planning journey. You can view the video here. He also shares a few tips about what to see and do in New Zealand for those planning their trip.

Preparations are well underway

As we’ve said before, Games preparations are well underway. The 28 official sports have been announced, and the 45 venues can now be viewed on our interactive map.

These world class venues include two that are brand new. They are the National Aquatic Centre at AUT Millennium that is currently under construction, which will be home to swimming and water polo.  Also canoe slalom which will be held at Wero, a new state of the art venue currently being built in South Auckland.

Which only leaves just one question, are you planning your trip yet?

A new airline partner

To mark the occasion of two years to go, we’re thrilled to announce a new partnership. If you live outside of New Zealand, planning your trip will likely be at the top of your to do list. It will come as no surprise therefore that World Masters Games 2017 and Air New Zealand have joined forces, making it even easier for athletes to get to their host city.

As Airline of World Masters Games 2017, Air New Zealand will be our preferred partner in delivering athletes to Auckland in great shape. So whether you come from Tauranga, Tokyo or Tonga, Air New Zealand are your first port of call.

Win flights and your Games entry!

And if you’re serious about being a Games competitor, here’s your chance to win a trip to New Zealand to compete, with return flights and your Games entry on us.

To celebrate two years to go, World Masters Games 2017 is offering one lucky competitor the opportunity to experience the excellence of Air New Zealand.
