Do you want to learn more about the practical nature around the placement of controls? Do you know when to NOT use a control placement? How do you avoid bingo controls? How far before the event should you start checking off the map and courses?
If any clubs have any members who they also think would benefit from attending both or one of the two sessions they are welcome to join in. Please let Greg (contact email below) know their email addresses to forward the Zoom invite.
Orienteering Bay of Plenty (BOP) has identified a need to upskill some members who have recently started to move into controlling events. Relatively new to this, not at an experienced level. BOP have been liaising with the ONZ Technical Committee in terms of providing some Beginner Controllers Training. We are looking to run the course online, spread over two evening sessions. Greg Flynn from BOP will lead it using the material that ONZ has provided.
This is the first time we have run such a course and it should be a good opportunity to upskill a group of people, and there will no doubt be some learnings and improvements we can use for subsequent courses as well.
The format and timing for the two sessions is as follows:
- Session 1 | Controller Introductory Course – Controller Fundamentals. Wednesday 4th May, 7.30pm to 9.30pm
- Session 2 | Controller Introductory Course – Designing Courses. Monday 16th May. 8pm to 9.30pm
Please don’t hesitate to contact Greg on firstname.lastname@example.org regarding the content of these online courses. To get details of the meeting invite, or any other admin queries contact Greg.
