Selection Notice JWOC2022
The Junior World Orienteering Championships 2022 are scheduled to be held in Aguiar da Beira, Portugal from 10-16 July 2022.
All athletes interested in selection for the 2022 JWOC team should notify their interest, year of birth, and cell phone number to the Convenor of Selectors Al Cory-Wright ([email protected]) by 28 February 2022.
Selection Criteria
As per the Orienteering NZ G1 Selection Policy the 2022 JWOC team will be selected on the basis of 2 sets of trials
- middle distance and long distance – 26/27 March, Wairarapa
- sprint distance, middle distance and long distance – 15-17 April, Nelson (ONZ Champs)
Athletes will be expected to:
- have a structured training plan in place by 31 January 2022, and to work with a suitable coach/mentor to follow this.
- demonstrate the technical ability and level of fitness required to finish in at least the top 50% of the field in at least one of the three individual races.

Selection Notice WOC2022
The World Orienteering Championships 2022 are scheduled to be held in Denmark from 26-30 June 2022, and will consist of an individual sprint, a Knock-out sprint relay and a sprint relay.
All athletes interested in selection for the 2022 WOC team shall notify their interest, year of birth, and cell phone number to the Convenor of Selectors Al Cory-Wright ([email protected]) by 28 February 2022.
Selection Criteria
As per the Orienteering NZ G1 Selection Policy the 2022 WOC team will be selected on the basis of
For New Zealand based athletes:
- performances in the 2022 National sprint League with particular emphasis on the sprint and knock-out sprint at the 2022 ONZ Championships
- previous known form including performances at WOC and other comparable international events
Overseas based athletes:
- up to 3 nominated sprint and/or knock-out sprint World Ranking Events (WRE) at any date up to and including 24 April 2022
- previous known form including performances at WOC and other comparable international events
Athletes will be expected to:
- demonstrate the technical ability and level of fitness required to finish in at least the top 75% of the field in at least one of the KO and individual sprint races
