• Friday 25 / Saturday 26 April 2025: South Island Secondary Schools Champs, Cromwell & Alexandra
• Friday 11 July 2025 NZ Secondary School Orienteering Champs, Auckland

What’ we’ve seen happening around the regions in the young people / school space:
Auckland School Sprint orienteering events continue weekly from Feb to Apr. This is a great way to get started and to try orienteering. The courses are through school grounds and generally not too difficult.

• West, Central & north zones week beginning 24 Feb to 24 Mar 2025
• South & east zones  week beginning 17 Feb to 25 Mar 2025 
• Auckland Sprint Final/Champs 6 April 2025

North West Orienteering Club have started up club nights. The first one on 26 February featured sprint orienteering with a focus on course setting, maps & navigation. 
Marlborough Orienteering Club have just had their ‘intro to orienteering’ session recently at Marlborough Girls’ College in Blenheim.
PAPO in Canterbury had an ‘Intro to navigation’ session with over 50 new students and a few adults practising map techniques with more than nine activities provided and some sprints afterwards. 
Red Kiwis have had their sprint series, and will be hosting a  ‘Have-a-go farm day’ on the 9th of March.  
Dunedin Orienteering have started their school series. 
Southland are doing after school ‘Have- a-go-sessions’ with basic, start from scratch training on Mondays 3, 10, 17 and 24 March 4pm to 6pm in city parks. They have up to 50 registered and could do with some volunteer help if you are around.
