Club Forum

A friendly reminder that our club forum takes place this Thursday at 7:30pm.  Thank you to the 24 attendees that have RSVPed to date.  A reminder that if you still intend to attend, please RSVP by emailing us at gm@orienteering.org.nz

Our annual Club Forum, usually run face to face as part of the Nationals programme each year, will this year be run virtually. The purpose of the forum is to involve the orienteering community in discussions about major challenges that the sport is grappling with, and where community input is needed to generate ideas and solutions for going forwards with.

The recent members survey, as well as our AGM discussion earlier in the year, identified several major issues that clubs are grappling with. This forum will focus on two of these issues, framed by these questions:

  1. How can we balance Club/Volunteer and commercial interests in a way that promotes growth and benefits the sport?
  2. What should the future of schools orienteering look like across the country?

The forum will take place between 7.30-9.30pm on Thursday 26 November 2020 via Zoom (video). People involved in running the sport (E.g. Club Presidents, committee members etc) and who are close to these issues are especially encouraged to attend, however we also welcome any members/orienteers who have an interest in solving complex strategic issues affecting the sport and who want to be involved.

There will be pre reading sent out to registered attendees the week prior to the event, and we ask that people RSVP to gm@orienteering.org.nz to signal their interest in attending.

We look forward to seeing you there, and if you have any questions please get in touch with myself or Christo.

Kind Regards
