Labour Weekend – Saturday 22 October to Monday 24 October
The North West Orienteering Club (NWOC) is excited to present the Northern Regional champs, with three days of classic Woodhill Forest terrain. Mature plantation forest on sand dunes, intricate contour detail, predominantly fast “white” terrain. Orienteering paradise.
Maps include the northern reaches of the 2017 World Masters final Hedley Dunes map and the 2021 NZ
Champs Karaka Swamp map. Much of the terrain has only been used once. Maps will be updated in mid-2022.
Each day will be a multi-day distance length (slightly shorter than a “long”), with a chasing start on day three*. The chasing start will be fastest first off with subsequent runners following based on their times behind the course winner after days 1 and 2. A chasing start makes for an exciting day of racing; first over the finish line is the winner within each class for the three days of competition. *The white and yellow graded classes are likely to have a standard (staggered) start process on day 3.
Start times from 11am on Saturday 22 October, 10am Sunday 23 October, 10.30am Monday 24 October with all runners starting by noon.
All events are accessed from SH16, north of Waimauku. Allow 70 minutes driving time from central Auckland or 90 minutes from Auckland Airport.
More detail will be available on the NWOC website in August www.nwoc.org.nz
