I’m writing this shortly before heading off to Australia for a family holiday (school holidays). But really, my husband knows one of my favourite activities is orienteering. So with our little girls getting a little bit bigger, we are basing our holiday in Canberra and doing some of the Oceania Champs events. My non-orienteering friends think it’s a bit weird going for a holiday to Canberra, but honestly I would (and have) travel anywhere for orienteering. As long as the maps are good and the courses fun – I will be happy.
In governance news, you’ll see some dates for the club members and president/leaders forums are advertised in this month’s newsletter. We’re keen to update our community on plans for JWOC 2029 and get more ideas of how ONZ can support clubs. Are there things you think we should be doing more (or less) of? We want to understand club priorities and challenges. All of this will help inform our planning for 2027 at the end of November.
An amazing thankyou to members and clubs who completed the SSNZ survey recently. The varied and considered thoughts from our community were really helpful to the Board. We will take some extra time while making decisions and will also reach out to a few key groups who we would like to understand better.
