The IOF World Orienteering Day have produced a new leaflet “Let’s GO Orienteering” – download from the ONZ website publications or schools resources pages.
Hundreds of people were forced to leave a large Auckland forest after illegal poachers fired gunshots.
The incident has sparked a warning from local iwi for poachers to stay away from Woodhill Forest in north-west of Auckland.
Woodhill forest – which was popular for mountain biking, tree climbing, horse riding and paintball – was evacuated when gunshots were heard during Easter weekend.

The ONZ Mapping Committee have prepared two information summaries for NZ Orienteers and Mappers on the new ISOM2017 mapping specification changes.
Advice for NZ mappers regarding the changeover to the new IOF ISOM2017 mapping specification for standard orienteering events.
The IOF has agreed a new mapping specification for standard orienteering events. Over the next few years you will run on a mixture of old (ISOM 2000) and new (ISOM 2017) mapping. The organisers will make it clear what you are going to get.
Skills Active are setting up an industry advisory group for the outdoor sector to help advise on training pathways and how to attract and retain staff.
The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) conducted an Event Advisers Clinic in Auckland, New Zealand on April 28th. The Clinic was held on the rest day of the World Masters Orienteering Championships 2017.
The 2017 Orienteering NZ Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 14 April 2017 at the conclusion of the Oceania Championships Sprint event. Venue details have been announced.
The final Bulletin has been published for the 5th March 2017 orienteering double-sprint event Massey Campus, Albany. Online Entries for the event close 11:59pm Tuesday 28th February 2017.
