What a fabulous start to our 2024 North West Rogaine Series. After a crisp start, we were treated to beautiful blue skies and sunshine – perfect conditions for exploring those rolling hills..Thanks to our Course Planner, Tahi Harris, and Controller Nick Harris who made the most of the map in choosing control sites – reaching the far corners of the map with lots of hill climbing required! Liam Stolberger, competing in the Men’s Open Grade, gained the highest points of the day with 1100 points. Matthew Greenwood in School Senior Boys wasn’t far behind with 1080 points. And Jonty Oram also in Men’s Open also broke the 1000 mark with 1010 points. In the Women’s Open Grade, Lara Molloy was the top scorer with 990 points with Renee Beveridge gaining 920 points. Results from the Stoneybrook event are here

Steve Knowles from Sportzhub was busy with his camera and drone providing for a wonderful collection of photos shared on our North West Orienteering Club Facebook & Instagram pages and on the Rogaine Series website.  Thank you Steve. See his album here

It was great to have an event as part of World Orienteering Week (WOW). Given the focus of the week on helping to spread the word about the sport of orienteering to young people, it was wonderful to see so many young people and school groups at the event.

A look ahead now to the next two events in our 2024 Rogaine Series.

  • Next Sunday, 26 May – Barlow Road, Riverhead
  • Sunday 9 June – Grass Track Road, Muriwai
