Team Manager roles for WOC and JWOC 2018 and 2019.

Applications are now being sought for the Team Manager roles for WOC and JWOC 2018 and 2019.  Appointments of these positions are for a 1 year term with a 1 year renewal.

Team Managers provide an integral part to our travelling teams both pre-competition and during the competition itself so we are looking for someone who has the time to commit to the role hopefully for this 2-year period.

Applications close Sunday 26 November 2017.  We are looking to confirm appointment before the end of November.


2018 / 2019 World Orienteering Championships (WOC) Team Manager

Tenure:

  • The appointment is for a 1 year + 1 year renewal.
  • The Manager is expected to travel to the World Championships with the team.
  • The World Orienteering Championships will be held in Latvia 4-11 August 2018 and in Norway 13-18 August 2019. (Travel to/from championships and pre-event training have not been included in these dates).

Purpose:

  • The primary role of the WOC Manager is to ensure all financial and logistic matters pertaining to the NZ representative team’s participation at WOC are attended to.

2018 / 2019 Junior World Orienteeering Championships (JWOC) Team Manager

Tenure: 

  • The appointment is for a 1 year + 1 year renewal.
  • The Manager is expected to travel to the Junior World Orienteering Championships with the team.
  • The Junior World Orienteering Championships will be held in Hungary 8-15 July 2018 and in Denmark 6-12 July 2019. (Travel to/from championships and pre-event training have not been included in these dates).

Purpose:

  • The JWOC Manager is one of two officials appointed by Orienteering NZ to lead and manage a team of junior athletes selected to attend JWOC (the other official appointed is the JWOC Coach).
  • The primary role of the JWOC Manager is to ensure all financial and logistical matters (both pre- and during JWOC) pertaining to New Zealand’s participation at JWOC are attended to.

2018 Council Vacancies

The Orienteering NZ Council is a governance Council, which means we are committed to ensuring the best interests of orienteering in NZ are met.
Orienteering NZ is inviting applications from suitable applicants for three vacancies on the Council.
Council members are elected by the membership for a term of 3 years.
The Council meets regularly during the year – usually February to November – via video conference and one face-to-face workshop for planning purposes.

ONZ Media Advisor

  • Posted: 1 December 2016
  • Purpose: The Media Advisor role is responsible for the interaction between ONZ and clubs with promotion of orienteering through traditional and social media outlets.
  • Tenure: Appointed by the General Manager for 1 year.
  • Personal qualities: The position requires a person with media experience and preferably contacts in media.
    The Media Liaison should have:
    – excellent communication and writing skills
    – well-connected throughout the orienteering community in New Zealand
    – sound interpersonal skills, as the role requires extensive liaison with many people and different external groups
    – a key understanding of media requirements to successfully promote national events
  • The position is voluntary in its nature.
