ONZ Committee Vacancies

The first term of the ONZ Committee members are now up for renewal.

Each committee has slightly different appointment criteria and member numbers, but in summary the following is what is needing to be done for each committee.  We have replaced some committee members in the last year, so these are not up for renewal.

Firstly, we are seeking applications for the JDC, MTBO and Rogaine committees.

  • Rogaine – 3-5 members

We’ll follow up with the Selection Panels, Technical and Mapping committees by the end of the year.

NZ Schools Team Coach 2017

  • Applications Closing Date: 30 June 2017
  • Purpose: The primary role of the NZ Schools Team Coach is to assist the NZ representative team to perform to the best of their ability and to improve upon previous results achieved by New Zealand representative teams in Australia.
  • Tenure: From appointment to the completion of the New Zealand Schools Team 2017 competitions in and around Bathurst in New South Wales as part of the Australian Championships carnival which runs from 23 September to 1 October 2017.
  • Personal qualities: The position requires an internationally experienced orienteer with sufficient time to devote
    to the role, with:
    • Excellent communication and motivational skills
    • Sound interpersonal skills
    • The ability to organise and plan
    • Coaching experience with a thorough understanding of the techniques involved in
      competitive orienteering
    • Coaching NZ and senior NZOF coaching qualifications (or equivalent)

    The Coach is expected to travel to Australia with the team.

  • Remuneration: Cost of travel will be funded by the Orienteering NZ. Direct expenses will be paid on provision of receipts and only within the budget allowance, as agreed.

NZ Schools Team Manager 2017

  • Applications Closing Date: 30 June 2017
  • Purpose: The primary role of the NZ Schools Team Manager is to ensure all financial and logistic matters pertaining to the team are attended to, so that the team members can concentrate on their own activities aimed at maximising their performance.
  • Tenure: From appointment to the completion of the New Zealand Schools Team 2017 competitions in and around Bathurst in New South Wales as part of the Australian Championships carnival which runs from 23 September to 1 October 2017.
  • Personal qualities: The position calls for detailed and longer-range planning, administration, report writing andinterpersonal skills.  The Manager is expected to travel with the team.
  • Remuneration: Cost of travel will be funded by the Orienteering NZ. Direct expenses will be paid on provision of receipts and only within the budget allowance, as agreed.

ONZ Media Advisor

  • Posted: 1 December 2016
  • Purpose: The Media Advisor role is responsible for the interaction between ONZ and clubs with promotion of orienteering through traditional and social media outlets.
  • Tenure: Appointed by the General Manager for 1 year.
  • Personal qualities: The position requires a person with media experience and preferably contacts in media.
    The Media Liaison should have:
    – excellent communication and writing skills
    – well-connected throughout the orienteering community in New Zealand
    – sound interpersonal skills, as the role requires extensive liaison with many people and different external groups
    – a key understanding of media requirements to successfully promote national events
  • The position is voluntary in its nature.
