It’s pretty exciting with the international orienteering season kicking off. The second World Cup race took place over the weekend and saw our relay team finish 14th, just behind the Australian team.  Luckily overall our team ranking remains ahead of Australia.

Auckland Orienteering Club hosted the Triple Crown & King’s Birthday Competition over the long weekend which included the much anticipated trials for our Southern Cross teams to compete in Australia in October. The event was also part of the National Orienteering League and the National Sprint League and the the cumulative time competition for other runners in the M/W 20E and 21E events determined the overall winners of the Triple Crown Event.  I hear the races were excellent with some so enthused by a great weekend orienteering.

We’ve changed our cadence of Board meetings to two a term (away from monthly) as a trial so the Board have not met since the last Compass Point was issued, but work continues in the background on health and safety updates and progressing out schools and junior strategies.
