While our Trans-Tasman cousins had a record haul of 12 gold medals in the WMOC sprint final held on Auckland University today, it was a thin day for NZL athletes with only 3 silvers and 3 bronzes to show at the end of the day. Best results came in the 50 grades with Yvette Baker and Marquite Gelderman taking silver and bronze respectively in W50, and Al Cory-Wright and Bill Edwards doing likewise in M50. The other silver medal came from Ann Scott in W80, while Cary Nazzer in W55 took bronze. There were also 4th placings for Karl Dravitzki (M35), Sarah Wright (W40), Tania Larsen (W45) and Jill Dalton (W70). With racing moving to Woodhill Forest on Wednesday hopefully the long distance will see larger rewards for the host nation.
