Junior Camp Bulletin 1

Held in the stunning Auckland forests, as well as superb sprint terrain, Junior Camp 2015 in Auckland is not to be missed!

Who is it for?

YOU!

Aspiring juniors who want to improve their orienteering. You must be at a New Zealand Secondary School, and a member of a club affiliated to Orienteering New Zealand. The camp is recommended for red or orange runners with a good level of fitness.

When is It?

13 – 18 December 2015.

The camp begins in the afternoon of Sunday 13th December, and runs until the morning of Friday 18th December. If you are planning on driving there, please aim to arrive between 12 and 4 pm. If you are flying, book your flights to arrive between 12 and 3 pm at Auckland Airport. There will be transport provided to the camp from the airport. Full board will be provided at St Cuthbert’s College, Epsom. The camp ends at 11:30 am on Friday 18th December. For departure flights from Auckland, after 2 pm is recommended. The approximate cost is $350 per person, excluding travel to and from Auckland.

What will it involve?

Lots of magical orienteering.

Each day will be packed full of high-quality training, specifically set to cater to everybody’s needs. We will be running in the famous forests of Woodhill, Waioneke (to be confirmed) and Riverhead, which include intricate sand dune terrain and demanding spur-gully relief. There will also be a number of sprint sessions to improve every aspect of your technique. You will come out of the week feeling motivated, invigorated, more technically competent and confident to take your orienteering further than you thought possible.

Information for Parents and Participants

Clubs will be asked to organise group travel for their participating students. Those driving to Auckland will be asked to arrive by van with a driver/helper who can stay and assist for the week, wherever possible. Assistance may be requested for additional van drivers/helpers. St Cuthbert’s College provides boarding school dormitory-style accommodation, fully catered. A sleeping bag/pillow will be required. Transport at the camp will be provided.
