Waikaia O Weekend

4th – 6th February 2017

We invite everyone to be part of Waikaia O Weekend 2017!

Held over Waitangi weekend next year, the event will include an exciting new Chris Forne produced map in Queenstown followed by two days in the fabled Waikaia forest just over two hours drive from Queenstown.

The Waikaia map has lain dormant for a number of years now, and this is an unmissable opportunity to run on one of New Zealand’s most treasured areas with towering native Beech Forest very rarely able to be used for orienteering.

Taking our inspiration from the Scottish Purple Thistle Event, we promise a weekend of awesome orienteering with high quality courses on spectacular maps, all done with a low-key relaxed vibe.

Choose your own start time each day, flexibility to change courses if needed and we encourage participants to camp out at Piano Flat right beside the Waikaia river for a fun filled weekend of summer orienteering.

Stay on after the event to compete in ‘The Emperor’ 24hr Rogaine held in and around the Waikaia area. The Emperor is the official Australasian Rogaining Championships 2017.

— Waikaia O Weekend is presented by Southland Orienteering Club and Southern O Week.
