JWOC 2016 will be held in Switzerland in the Engadin valley from July 9th – 15th. The event centre is in Scoul which has been a well known wellness resort for over 130 years. The scenery is said to be spectacular. On arrival, trainings planned by coach Rob Jessop will help us acclimatise to the European terrain as we prepare to compete at an altitude of 1150m -2300m on courses designed by previous JWOC winners Simone Niggli (long distance planner) and Fabian Hertner (winner of mens JWOC 2005). We can expect to have not only physical, but mentally challenging courses in the foothills of the Engadin valley.
The Sprint is to be held in the event centre, Scoul (1150-1300m) , the Long distance at Tschierv/Val Müstair (1900-2300m), the Middle on a map called Ftan (1700-2000m) and the relay 1440-1800m. Check out the JWOC 2016 website and previous maps here: http://www.jwoc2016.ch/competitions/map/ .
With just little over 9 weeks till JWOC, the team is continuing to develop our skills ready for the competition come July. The next local competition is Auckland Champs 7-8th May and Queens Birthday 4th-6th June.
