The Orienteering NZ Kiwi-O manual, published July 2014 replaces the previous versions of the NZOF Kiwisport manual – a very popular online resource for helping teach primary and intermediate children between the ages of 5 and 12.

The Kiwi-O manual outlines activities for a minimum preparation, minimum equipment, minimum cost orienteering programme for use in primary and intermediate schools, youth groups and at home.

It is intended for anyone teaching orienteering at schools, school camps or in youth groups, for students aged between 8 and 12 (years 4-8). Some exercises and events are also suitable for students aged 5 – 7. It is intended for use in New Zealand but much of what is recommended is applicable anywhere in the world.

Laurie Baxter (NW) created the original edition of this manual as part of the KiwiSport programme in 1990 with the assistance of the Hillary Commission. Since then it has seen several revisions with input from the likes of Mark Roberts, Robyn Davidson, and Geoffrey Cox.

Download a copy of the Orienteering NZ Kiwi-O Manual from the Orienteering NZ website Publications page or School Resources page.
