In July 2022, the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Grant Robertson, announced that a new entity would be created to strengthen and protect the integrity of the sport and recreation system in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Integrity Transition Programme (ITP) has been tasked with establishing the Integrity Sport and Recreation Commission – with the goal of enhancing integrity within sport and recreation by protecting and promoting the safety and wellbeing of participants and the fairness of competition.

As part of this work, the ITP will draft a set of common integrity standards – a Code of Integrity for sport and recreation, which will form the cornerstone of the sector’s integrity system.

The Code is intended to provide clear standards for organisations and individuals in the sport and recreation sector.

It will be designed to ensure participants (including athletes) are at its centre.

We need your help with this work.

Your view is important
To ensure the Code reflects the sector, the ITP has developed a survey to capture the views of the sport and recreation community.
We want as many people as possible to share their views by completing this survey – and we’re asking you to help us achieve that.

How you can help

1. Complete the survey using this link:  Code Survey 2023 . This is your chance to help shape the code.
2. Share the survey link (and information in this email) with your networks – staff, colleagues, members and partner organisations – anyone who has an interest in sport and recreation. Again, we want to capture as many voices as possible from every part of our sector, right across Aotearoa. 
3. Post to your social channels. A suite of social assets (videos, digital tiles and suggested posts) can be accessed here. Please download these and post to your organisation’s social media channels. The survey is open now – but will officially be promoted to the wider public between 29 June and 10 August 2023.
4. Re-post and share our content. We will be running a targeted social media campaign while the survey is open. This campaign is designed to ensure we reach every part of our sector. If you see our posts, please like, share and endorse them.

Next Steps
Once the survey is closed, we will consolidate the responses and feed these into the Code drafting process. I will write to you outlining the consolidated feedback from the survey and provide an update on progress.

There will be further opportunities for consultation before the Code is finalised.
